It is. We're making sure everyone's accounted for and not working alone. Is that going to be a problem?

Stay where you are. I'll come to you.

FROM: farron.claire@cdc.org
Do you have a weapon?

Right. I'll take of that.

See you soon.

Don't mention it.

[No, really, don't. There's too much work to do...but she's true to her word. It doesn't take long for her to make her way to the observation deck, pink hair tied back and boots thudding on the ground at a steady clip. Her own weapon--an oddly mechanical looking sword--is held in one hand, and a long rifle-type gun is in her other, held firmly but with her finger off the trigger mechanism anyway. She did say she'd take care of it, but first she needs to find him. She saw the picture on his file, sure, but it's different out here.]

Washington?

[...Wow he's tall. She gives the thought a moment to run through her brain, then nods in greeting and extends the rifle, butt-first, towards him. It's seen some use, but it's well-maintained and she prefers the sword anyway.]

Here. You can use this for now. I'll get it back later.

[Just a loan, though. Everyone needs to keep their equipment handy and if that armor--so much like Chief's--means anything he's a weapon in his own right. But for now long range is key.]

Mikasa Ackerman. Leader of Unit Commando.

[Vakarian's assignment. Aeryn probably knew that, but at this point they don't have enough people to get that picky about who's working with who. She nods, shoving her fringe from her eyes a moment later.]

If she gives you an order, you follow it ahead of mine. Until then, we'll be patrolling and keeping an eye out. Stay close, but don't shoot anything or anyone that's wearing one of these.

[She shows him her wrist and the cuff on it, even as the other hand flicks the sword and, with the sound of shifting gears, it compacts itself into a rifle like shape.]

They're our people. We're not after them.

[Yep. The sword just did. She takes hold of it in both hands, stepping past him and deeper into the corridor.]

Everyone we've seen so far. They wouldn't be talking to us if they didn't.

[Hence the apparent constant need for headcounts. Anybody who doesn't answer is either missing, dead, or a problem. She's honestly just hoping for the first two right now.]

I've never seen anyone without a cuff, and I've been here a while. Something's wrong if they don't have one.

[It gets the job done. Cool factor is irrelevant. ....okay yeah it is pretty cool.]

It's fast enough that the instructors can't keep up with it, and no one's seen it. We don't know what it looks like yet. [a second's pause, then:] It can also camouflage itself, apparently. We might not see it at all.

Big enough to get out of that container, but light enough that it's not thudding around.

[Just clicking. Incessantly clicking. She'll be hearing that in her sleep for weeks.]

My guess is it's human sized, but no one's found any tracks to say one way or the other. We're pretty much running blind.

We don't have the equipment for that. The instructors might, but they're not the sharing types.

[All they've got--all she's got--is nightvision. Maybe heat or x-ray if any of those things from the sims is actually really ready to be used. Otherwise...]

We haven't ruled anything out yet. Stay sharp.
